Wow, life is good. I finally was able to work on my project. For the past week I've been working with Ying (my graduate student mentor) on her ATRP of her monomer. It's been really interesting. I learned how to do NMR and GPC. Not that any of you guys would know what that is, I mean, I barely know! But definitely this has been an awesome job. Now I have my own lab bench and space to work on my silica particles. Today was the biggest learning experience in cleaning. I can't believe how much time I spent cleaning just to prep my synthesis. It took over two hours to clean! Ugh... I can't believe how much I kept screwing up. The woman who I am doing these syntheses for was laughing at me so much. I would finally get the correct amount in a syringe and have a filter and needle attached and I would touch the needle. There goes the needle, contaminated! No problem, just need to change the needle. Going to get a new needle and I drop the entire syringe... yup, definitely was not the most graceful person today. But it's done and I get many chances to do that. Well besides me playing with deadly chemicals, I've been meeting a bunch great people. My graduate mentor Ying of course. She is good people. I've also worked with Gunjan. He is pretty cool and has helped me out a lot. Yoan, Rick, Greg, Jen, Brad, and my boss Bryan; are all awesome people. I also have been hanging out with Pjerin this week. It's his last week before he leaves for Virginia. So it has been nice to see him before he leaves. Still don't know how people major in physics...eeewwww. I also met Ed through Pjerin. Now I have someone to hang out with I have free time in Amherst. It's odd because Ed reminds me of someone and I still can't think of who it is. So annoying!Anyways, I got to watch Clue today. It was a "must watch" movie. It was actually pretty good. I enjoyed it, I may have to go download it now. So if anyone is bored, watch Clue! It's actually feels quite weird to have free time to actually spend it with other human beings. I'm still so used to always being at AJ Wright. They used to call me in all the damn time. Seesh, I was such a push over. But yes, all in all life is amazing. I love the people in my life :-) I get to go see some of the AJ Wright crew tomorrow at Sam's graduation party. Which my wife will hopefully be tagging along with me. Well, time for me to do something productive, whatever it may be. Leave some love and hopefully I post some new pictures soon, well, once I take them of course.
